Some of the work described in
these modules involves potentially harmful or dangerous sitations
such as:
- cutting through and/or screwing into walls
- being in potentially dangerous positions such
as:
- on roofs
- up power poles
- in the bush
- on mountain tops
- up TV towers.
As much care as possible has been taken in writing
these modules to ensure that safety issues are pointed out at all
times. However, in no event
shall GTONS and/or the Open Network Craft Project, be liable
or responsible for ANY incidental, indirect, special, direct, or
consequential damages or harm whatsoever, arising out of or related
to the users of this manual undertaking work in conjunction with
these modules, this website, or any of the information contained
herein.
As such:
- ALL installations are to be performed
by qualified personnel only, holding the APPROPRIATE tickets for
the type of work to be performed.
- ALL relevant local, provincial, and
national code is to be checked by the persons performing the work,
prior to proceeding with the work, and ALL code must be STRICTLY
adhered to for safety purposes.
NOTE: Work
completed within the walls of structures falls under the ELECTRICAL
CODE, and as such, must be completed by qualified personnel who
hold a low voltage ticket.
Specific safety instructions include:
- ALWAYS USE
THE CORRECT TOOLS and equipment to avoid injury.
- ALWAYS wear
appropriate safety equipment including safety
glasses when cutting any wires, and safety harnesses and lines
when working at heights.
- Take GREAT care when screwing into walls,
so that GAS LINES, ELECTRICAL WIRES, AND PLUMBING are not contacted
by screws.
- DO NOT CUT
THROUGH ELECTRICAL LINES or wires unless you know
PRECISELY what you are doing and are properly qualified to do
so.
- TAKE GREAT CARE AT
HEIGHTS OR WHEN CLIMBING poles, being up on a roof, or
when climbing TV towers or other installations.
- THINK about
what you're doing.
- DO NOT WORK WHEN TIRED
or perform potentially dangerous work when you could harm
yourself through fatigue.
- TAKE YOUR TIME -
Rushing can cause accidents.
