In addition to these safety suggestions,
there are safety LAWS that workers are REQUIRED to follow when working.
The Workers
Compensation Board provides information regarding the specifics
of the laws, and what adhering to the laws means. Check
with the Workers Compensation Board in your area to ensure that
your worksite is safe, and that the safety rules and regulations
are being followed.
TAKE GREAT care when climbing poles, being
up on a roof, or when climbing TV towers or other installations.
THINK about what you're doing. DO NOT perform this work when you
are tired. TAKE YOUR TIME - Rushing can cause accidents.

WCB Rule:
Safety headgear must be worn by a worker in any work area where
there is a danger of head requirement injury from falling, flying
or thrown objects, or other harmful contacts. |
 |
WCB Rule:
Fall protection systems must be used when work is being done
at a place from which a fall of 3 m (10 ft) or more may occur.
It is strongly suggested that the section
on fall protection be read before proceeding with any work.

Working with wiring, and in and around buildings
and towers requires specific electrical and trade tickets.
Ensure that every person
working on installations (rural, remote, or otherwise) has
the proper qualifications for the work which they
are performing. |

SAFETY
TIP: Make sure that your guylines are MARKED AND CLEARLY
VISIBLE! Use surveyors tape, pre-fabricated guyline caution
flags, or slide YELLOW GARDEN HOSE over the lines! This will
both protect them, and make them visible (but you'll have to
remember to slide it over before you put the clamps on...) |
 |
Climbing Safety: Use of the proper gear to
prevent a fall is required, including harness and ropes, as
well as protective gear such as a safety helmet. Additionally,
a spotter is required to ensure that climbers do not fall. More
information on climbing safety regulations are available on
the WCB
website. |
