Module One - Activity 2: Cable Standards Overview

The EIA/TIA (Combined Electronics Industry Association/ Telecommunications Industry Association) created two standards for Ethernet wiring, as shown below. As noted above, it makes a lot of sense to stick to these standards when wiring your ethernet. Conforming to the standards simply means putting the twisted pair wires in the correct order, according to the type of cable you are creating. The following diagram clearly illustrates the correct wire colour order for both standards.
