Potential Funding Sources
One initiative, the AgriSpirit Fund from Farm Credit Canada, provides funding for a variety of projects that enhance the quality of life for people in rural Canada. The applications will be accepted in May 2011, and projects must be completed by December 2012. Here is the web site and the application is very straightforward: http://www.fcc-fac.ca/en/AboutUs/Responsibility/agrispiritfund_e.asp
I found another interesting link to funding for 'greening school grounds' from Toyota Canada. The Evergreen site is at: http://www.evergreen.ca/en/funding/grants/telg.sn
Albeit only schools can (go to the login link and set up an application account), funds are available for the purchase of supplies to plant Native plant species (from our recommended native plant lists <http://nativeplants.evergreen.ca/lists/> ), heritage berries, vegetable seeds and plants (from our recommended garden plant lists <http://www.evergreen.ca/en/resources/schools/food-gardens/> ) as well as tools, materials and professional services (such as a native plant or design professional or a professional educator) .
